I have received a few emails from customers and yes you are right I missed blogging three times last week - we were out of town and busier than ever!  But the point is email letting me know you noticed, then you are welcome to come in to shop before Saturday February 27th and receive an additonal 5% off at the till.

So what were we doing out of town?  We went to Edmonton early last week and hung out with the kids, had lots of fun and then on the weekend I went to one of our wholesalers Retail Events.  Learned lots of techniques and ideas - check out our upcoming classes as we incorporate all the new techniques in our classes.  Cayla joined us in Edmonton and we took classes from Cathie Allen from clearsnap - Cathie has over 30 years of experience in the stamping industry and she is an incredibly talented lady, classes from Ranger, Bo Bunny, Fancy Pants, Bazzill, and more.  I always have an enjoyable time at this Retailer Event as I find the classes a much slower pace than CHA, suppliers easy to talk to and more!

Saturday February 27th is a brand new program called “It’s in the Sketch”! Join us for an easier Scrapbooking time or for just a treat yourself to a day out. Many of us feel guilty for Scrapbooking, the dishes are calling, the laundry or whatever else that is happening in our household. However, let us ask ourselves why do we Scrapbook? For some of us it is the pure joy of the hobby, for others it is to tell the story of our lives to pass on, perhaps for the kids to truly enjoy the vacations and special moments together. Whatever the reason, be sure to set aside some YOU time and create those memories for the people you love. Watching your child as they relive the moments you have created with your pages is well worth it. Join us from 10 – 5 and watch those pages quickly come alive as you use our “It is in the Sketch” program. We will have 10 sketches ready and waiting for you when you arrive. Just think how many pictures you can find homes for if you do not have to come up with all the ideas on your own.    A person can change the sketch to suit themselves or choose to totally come up with their own layout ideas that day, whatever suits each person it great. Lunch and snacks are included in the class fee for the day and only 24 participants will be taken as each person will definitely want their own table. Therefore, we recommend signing up quickly for this event!

Thanks Joan for the Great Tip!
I did a beautiful wedding page by mounting the pictures on a vellum mat.

I cut the vellum with fancy scissors and then outlined the decorative edge with a versa marker.
I then embossed the edges with silver embossing powder.
Looks elegant yet keeps the focus on the pictures!

Thanks Heidi for the Great Tip!

Take a Tim Holtz felt applicator (I forget what its called - its a wood block with handle, velcro on the bottom - attach felt to it and rub the felt on your ink pads) - ink up with a light colour of ink (such as turquoise) - rub this ink over your paper in several areas. Leave a few white areas if you're using white paper. Stamp with versamark or preferred product. Sprinkle clear embossing powder over the stamped image, heat with heat tool. Then ink up another piece of felt, using a darker colour of ink (such as teal), rubbing over the embossed stamp but in selected areas so that you can see areas of turquoise, teal, and white. Ink it up (with felt applicator) in a manner that's pleasing to you - you can add several colours for more of a gradient effect if you like. This technique is particularly well suited for "backgrounds" created with stamps and can be used to great dynamic effect.
