We still have a bit of room in our National Scrapbooking Day Crop - Why not come and join us?  Wait till you see the loot bags and check out the demos we will be having during the crop.....  Call 955-3236 to reserve your spot.

We continuously get questions from puzzled customers on how to use some of the most popular products on the market today, like Glimmer Mist, Paint Dabbers, Distress Inks, etc. All some customers need to hear is one of our staff explain how a product is used and then they are ready to leap in and try out a new product. Most customers, however, prefer to see how a product is used rather than trying to figure it out all on their own. So, in response to the numerous questions, we have created a demo series to be held during the NATIONAL SCRAPBOOKING DAY CROP to help everyone out on their journey in learning how to use some of these incredible products! Below is a schedule of the demos to be held throughout the event:

Distress-to-Impress
Distressing is all the rage, and we want you to learn how to use some of the most popular products on the market that can help you take your pages to the next level! Learn how to use Tim Holtz Distress Inks, Adirondack Paint Dabbers, Tim Holtz Distress Crackle Paint, and many more distressing products! Also learn numerous techniques to help you make the new look like the old for simply impressive results!

Demystified - Smooch vs Glimmer Mist vs Tsukineko Shimmerz
You may have caught yourself gazing at the gorgeous array of shimmery spray colours or you may just have bought your new bottle of shiny, sparkly misting ink. Either way, you have also heard EVERYONE talking about glimmering this, spraying that, altering this, and distressing that….but you have no idea where to start! Don’t let these amazing products fool you – just because they look stunning on every project that they are used on, it does not mean that they are difficult to use or that you need any special expertise to start glimmering away!

First of all, do you know the difference between these three fabulous products?! In this demo we will talk about what sets glimmer mist, smooch and tsukineiko shimmers apart, because each product has unique qualities and is best suited for specific projects.

Second, we will delve into the amazing world of shiny, shimmery spray inks to show you basic and innovative ways to use these products! We will answer questions like: ‘So what exactly can you do with glimmer mist?’ and help you resolve the never-ending battle of finding just the right colour for your layout! If you love grunged, or distressed paper or if you simply love all things that sparkle – we will show you how glimmer mist is the solution to all of your creative desires!

Quite simply, we are certain that you will find glimmering as addictive as we all do, and that is why we want to share a few demos with you on how to get started using this amazing product!

Bling it Up!
Sparkle! Shine! Dazzle! We all love rhinestones, glitter and pearls – but sometimes you just can’t seem to find that perfect colour, or that perfect flourish, or that perfect paper…  How about trying something a little different? Do you know that there are many ways to bling up your page without using conventional rhinestones or pearls? Let us show you how to achieve a similar look using liquid pearls, stickles and other mediums to add a whole new dimension to your pages!

Flower Power
Prima has always been a leader in flower embellishments and some of their latest creations are beautiful, luxurious, fabric flowers. Learn how to make your own so you never have to be stuck on a colour again. If you would rather rely on the talented Prima team than your own creations, learn how to take some of their popular designs and give them even more dazzle and umph! By the time we finish this demo, you will feel so flower im-powered and recharged with so many new ideas that putting pages together will be a snap!

It is a brilliant, sparkly, water-based liquid ink that can be used in as many ways as you can imagine! You can simply use glimmer mist to add colour and sparkle to paper, flowers, chipboard, ribbon, fabric, canvas, etc…You can step it up a notch by using beautifully designed Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen stencils to create your own patterned paper, and then go even further by using coordinating clear stamps which you can spray with glimmer mist to create a water-coloured design.

If this is not exciting you, how about using this beautiful glimmer to add to other mediums to jazz them up a bit. Why not spray a smidgen of it on your non-stick craft mat and grab a paint brush to colour in all of your stamped images? Or how about, creating your own custom colours for a signature look every time!

It is definitely going to be a fun event!

Design Tips
With postal prices ever on the rise, and those new automated sorting machines, mailing cards with dimensional embellishments can sometimes be tricky.

However, there are ways of maintaining a flat-for-mailing card and still create lovely embellishments and enhancements which are sure to be eye-catching!

Most stampers and scrappers have discovered that glitter becomes a best friend when covering up mistakes or adding a little pizzazz.

Using Brushable glue, 2-in-1 glue, glue pens, dimensional glue, red-line tape or  two-sided tape, creating sparkling embellishments becomes fun and uniquely "yours".

If dry embossing a background, color all or part of the embossed area with a  glue pen and sprinkle on the glitter. HINT: do small areas at a time to prevent the glue from drying prematurely.

Using narrow nozzles on the Brushable glue or Dimensional glue, outline seams and layers, then apply glitter.

Apply two-sided-tape (which comes in many sizes) as stripes on seams or layers, or other designs, and sprinkle on glitter creating beautiful backgrounds or foregrounds. HINT: with tapes, after applying glitter, try placing a piece of wax paper over the glittered area and roll with brayer (or press with fingers), to force glitter more deeply into the tape.

Using the proper adhesives with glitter on die cuts and layers enables cards to remain "pliable" (less rigid) so they may process through the sorting machines at the post office AND remain less than 1/4" in width.
